LATEST NEWS: AIM Partners with UTeach for Final Workshop
Twenty-four enthusiastic math teachers attended the final AIM for Engineering workshop on February 19, 2005. Most of the teachers are UTeach graduates in their first year of teaching at Austin area schools. UTeach is a teach preparation program in UT's College of Natural Sciences. These brief video clips highlight the day's events.

Professional Development Workshops for Math Teachers
Algebra I and Calculus teachers at selected Austin
schools were invited to participate in the AIM for
Engineering Summer Institute in June of 2004.
Participants received teacher notes, setup guides, student
handouts, and equipment for several hands-on classroom
activities. All activities support deep
understanding of specific math concepts through systematic
exploration of a mechanical device, such as a catapult or
water rocket launcher.
All support materials for the algebra and calculus
activities are available in the
Curriculum Resources page.

Online i.math Activities Available
The goal of
i.math
(or "interactive math") is simple: to provide
students and teachers of grades 8-12 with interactive
learning tools which serve to extend mathematics beyond
the limits of the classroom. Many of the i.math
activities are based on AIM for Engineering modules.

K-14 Learning Grid
The K-14 Learning Grid website catalogs outreach programs available to students and teachers at the kindergarten through high school level and beyond. In addition to the searchable catalog of programs, visitors can rate the programs and provide feedback. The site also allows visitors to set up a profile for themselves so that they can track the programs that they have attended, indicate their interests, and be notified of new programs that come online that might be useful. Visit the Learning Grid at http://www.engr.utexas.edu/k14/.
