What is a Corporate Liaison?
Corporate liaisons assist recruiters at EXPO, run volunteer stations, and help in other general areas in order to ensure that EXPO runs like clockwork. Volunteers on the concourse floor provide refreshments for the recruiters and assist them in any other needs they may have. Every volunteer serves a 2-hour shift.
Why should I be a Corporate Liaison?
Being a liaison at this fall's Engineering EXPO is a great opportunity for students to get involved with one of the largest student run career fairs in the nation. Corporate liaisons have the advantage of establishing rapport with the recruiters. The recruiters often remember the volunteers who helped them, and talking to the companies is much easier once you get to know the company representatives. Volunteering as a liaison lets you interact with the companies in a more casual manner, outside the confined box of a suit, tie and resume. Corporate liaisons also get an inside look at how EXPO is run, and all volunteers receive a free t-shirt!
I am a freshman. Can I still be a part of EXPO by volunteering?
Absolutely! If you are a freshman, don't fall for the age old myth about "freshmen don't belong at EXPO." Volunteering as a liaison during your freshman year can open doors to numerous opportunities. It shows the companies that you are thinking and planning ahead for your future. It is the perfect setting for you to get a jump start to your engineering career.
What do I wear as a Corporate Liaison?
As a liaison, you will have to wear business casual attire. On signing in, you will receive a t-shirt that you must wear to identify yourself as a corporate liaison.
